Chamonix Wedding Photographer
Planning a marriage in or near Chamonix France or the Haute Savoie region, and looking for a photographer? Do you seek an experienced, calm and hard-working photographer. Someone who will document your important day using lots of natural light and minimal posing. A photographer who knows the region well and loves capturing the fun, emotional and joyous moments of your big day in a photojournalistic style. Someone to tell the wonderful and personalised story of your wedding day ? Well – you’ve come to the right place.
I will be equally happy to photograph your family and friends in any group shots you request, using a minimum of direction or posing to allow your own natural personalities to come out. I also take detail photos of your wedding venue and special decorations. I am based in Chamonix Mont Blanc and can cover weddings in the surrounding Haute Savoie region (including Morzine, Megève, St Gervais les Bains, Annecy and Annemasse). I enjoy destination weddings too ! Wedding photography packages and rates are found here.
Mountain Adventures, Events and Portraits
I am an experienced photo journalist having shot for weekly papers and magazines for 12 years in the “big city” before moving to Chamonix. Event coverage now just comes naturally to me. I truly love to tell the stories of your day big or small in photos.
I also enjoy taking meaningful portraits of families, couples and parents with their children or infants.
I am passionate about documentary photography, the arts and the mountains. I have accompanied and photographed group ski tours, multi-day treks, adventure races, rock climbing, trail races, horse riding, alpine skiing, theatre productions, art openings, birthdays and many other types of events and personal adventures. A little blog entry on one of my recent photo adventures is here. Please contact me with details of your needs for a quick quote.
Beautiful Property and Businesses Photography
As a very experienced property photographer, having shot over 300+ properties in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps over the past several years I will showcase your property or business to attract people to your website. I am also a “techie” so can help you answer questions about how to best use the photos on your site.
My approach is to make your property look as beautiful as possible whilst remaining true to it’s real and unique character so that potential guests or buyers who view your the photos on your website will also be just as happy when they arrive and see the property “in person” as they were excited to see your advert. I will balance natural light, the time of day and the time of year we do the shoot in order to bring out the best features in your home, apartment, restaurant, hotel or other business on that day.
Property photography rates and packages are found here.
Hiking Tour + Photography Workshops
Several times a year, I host alpine photography workshops in conjunction with fully qualified local hiking guides (IML UIMLA) in the Chamonix area – so I am happy to take your walking group on a single or multi-day hike with possible overnights in beautiful mountain huts where you can find showers and electricity so that we can review our photos.
While walking, we will focus on learning more about our cameras and and I’ll explain and demonstrate techniques and tips to bring more creativity and personal vision to your photography – all with the stunning backdrop of the beautiful French or Italian Alps region as our subject matter. In the evening we’ll review the results and share each other’s photos over dinner in an amazing alpine refuge.
I earned my degree from the well known School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and have years of experience in both photography and hiking (and running and climbing and skiing) in the Alps. As a natural “techie” I am always happy to answer questions and will tailor the experience to your level. Even people with less expensive cameras will gain a lot from learning to think more about composition, lighting and simply thinking more about how you want to best capture this moment unfolding in front of you.
I have worked with school groups and adult groups and can plan workshops working with your input to fit a variety of budgets and time constraints. Please contact me for more information.
